Theresa Reimann-Dubbers — Rosa Inustus
Rose is a rose is a rose is a rose (Short-term Project) — Summer 2016
Rosa Inustus - the Branded Rose of the family Rosaceae. It bears the marks of centuries of being reduced to an inter-human communication tool and a mere carrier for symbolic meaning. The process of branding suggest permanent identification, unique ownership and a legible code. The branded rose has suffered from the countless separate entities, each trying to brand their ‘unique’ content onto the flower. As a consequence of this repeated action, the once living plant has partially burnt, crumbled and died in the process.
