This project emerges as a commitment between myself and this particular object - Osso de choco - a personal dialogue that tries to understand the sense of preservation in both object and memory through their deconstruction.
The cuttlebone grows as an aggregated mineral formation comprised of tightly superimposed layers. This structure records not only the condition of the being’s growth but also of their environment, making them a vessel of information.
Its distinct visual structure resurfaces also in my memory, where the commitment for a deeper understanding is met with a paradox between sacrifice and preservation.
That engraved representation of the past is no longer present, not as my recollection nor the bone’s structure.
