Artificial Intelligence in Art and Design — Winter 2017

Monumentalization and physical representation of artificial intelligence

The video opens the speculative question of how an artificial or virtual entity would be chiseled into stone. When intelligent algorithms take action and responsibility for practical decisions, will there be a need for materialization? Leading figures, which cause difference in social life had always been transformed, weather antique leaders carved into marble, dictators poured in bronze, or loved ones remembered by grave stones. How could a state of a virtual entity be materialized?

By opening this questions the video tries to see contemporary technical infrastructure, as an auratical, monumental sculpture itself.
