Remote Control — Winter 2015
“The fovea is responsible for sharp central vision and defines the direction of the physical attention.”
There is a duality in our relation with smartphones. On one hand it increases social communication like social media services, text-messeging, etc, on the other hand it creates a lack of focus on our social surroundings. The Fovea-Glasses are an attempt to emphasise on this duality by subtracting from the visual field each time the user gets a notification on his device. When the glasses are totally blacked out, the user can only see his own phone to force the focus on the pressure that arises in the forever connected world.
In collaboration with Jerome Gautier.
