Remote Control — Winter 2015
Follow me! The installation is about the daily madness happening on social media platforms like Instagram. Every day millions of people share uncountable numbers of mostly generic pictures, always hoping for others to like them. This insatiable desire for more likes is represented by a head made of wax. For every like we receive, a bright and hot lamp is being activated for several seconds – slowly melting the head as the Instagramer's fame seems to grow.
For our installation we set up an Instagram account and filled it with pictures of things like food and cute animals (@followmydailyworld). The profile's user picture is regularly being refreshed with the current appearance of the head.
In collaboration with Florian Maas.
