Niklas Söder — The purpose of a system is what it does
Poetics of Repetition (Course) — Winter 2019
Systems are distinct from their environment. They have individual ideas and can not operate outside their own boundaries. How do these autonomous entities exchange information between each other? Their boundary contains ports that allow information to flow across. Systems can stimulate each others ports and thus trigger processes within one another.
The installation consists of seven autonomous systems. Whenever the sensory ports of two of these systems sense each other, information (light) is exchanged and the behavior (speed) of the system changes in a range of random values. Through this process, an ever changing choreography of light and movement can be observed.
