Tsingyun zhang — Optical-Devices-as-Time-Apparatus

Time Apparatus (Course) — Winter 2021

A multiplicity of interpretations opens up as a shift in the observation paradigm legitimates and emphasizes a variety of individual experiences. For a long time, society has been structured and imagined from a monocular, patricentric perspective.

I can highlight technology as a way to explore the unusual angle, which is on the opposite side of the normative gaze. Optical apparatus are not merely functional devices, and they reflect the way people of that time see the world, hence exteriorizing the society as time goes.
