Potential Energy — Energy Potential — Winter 2025

Ø consists of two related kinetic sculptures built around the forms of an egg and a heart. Both use simple mechanical transmission to produce movements that resemble gestures of living bodies.

In the egg sculpture, rotating the body sets a gear in motion. Through a perpendicular transmission, the movement is transferred to another axis, causing the wings to rotate and open under gravity. The object appears to attempt flight, although it can never actually lift itself.

The second sculpture transforms the heart, a form associated with emotion and life, into a mechanical structure. When its central axis is activated, a similar transmission causes its wings to move. It resembles a mechanical sacred heart: a gesture of devotion or revelation that remains dependent on external activation.

Both works explore the fragile boundary between animation and mechanism: movements that appear alive while revealing themselves as constructed, dependent and incomplete.
