Nele Reinhardt — A Day in the Life
Holding Things Together — Summer 2026
We keep souvenirs to remember people, places, and moments that matter to us. Once brought home and placed on a shelf, both their journey and ours seem to come to an end. A Day in the Life brings these objects back to life through small memory boxes, revealing their stories shaped by the personal experiences, associations, and imagination connected to them. Removed from their usual stillness, the souvenirs become characters in their own little worlds, blurring the boundaries between real memories and imagined scenarios.
Each box is dedicated to a different souvenir and contains a small screen offering an animated glimpse into its imagined life. Through small peepholes, visitors are invited to secretly peek into these intimate worlds. As they look inside, the act of observing becomes strangely voyeuristic, as though they are entering someone else's private memories without being noticed.
In an age where almost every moment is captured through our smartphone cameras, individual memories risk getting lost in an endless sea of images. By bringing physical keepsakes to life through digital storytelling, A Day in the Life explores a more intimate and imaginative way of preserving and experiencing memories, bridging the gap between the tangible and the virtual.
