Mixed media, two-channel installation, 10 min loop, 85 × 55 × 165 cm

Meadow of carnivore plants is a Venus flytrap biotope staged on C-stands which is accompanied by an audio narrative via wireless headphones. This piece of landscape, cut out of any kind of spatial context, is reminiscent of a typical museum diorama.
Dioramas usually function as an apparatus of representation. In natural history museums, for example, the diorama sets the stage to teach about nature and science and thus establishes a certain knowledge of the world.
Yet in this diorama, the surface that renders the illusion of a naturalistic landscape is stripped away, glitches.

Venus flytrap [Dionaea muscipula]: carnivorous, rhizome-forming, grows in nutrient-poor soil, depends on periodic natural fires every 3–5 years.
