Adel Akram Alameddine — I am sitting In A Room For Speaking Voice And One-dimensional Neural Network With Random Weights (Local Version)

Matters of thinking (Course) — Summer 2022

This experiment is a recreation of Alvin Lucier’s I Am Sitting In A Room. Lucier played back and re-recorded his voice thirty-two times until the spatial properties of his living room altered his voice into pure harmonics. In this interpretation I re-recorded my voice by iterating it fifty times through a one-dimensional neural network with random weights. Throughout the whole process it remained static and no parameters were changed. Over time the network's dimension, that has been unknown to the listener, reveals its acoustic properties.
